Losing Connection

Postby woody » Jan 12 04 1:29 pm

Hi

I am currently experiencing an issue with Wingate which has suddenly started happening since I installed the Ares P2P file sharing software on one of the client systems.

Basic Configuration is:

Windows ME 512mb RAM

2 NICS
internal 192.168.0.1
external 192.168.2.100 connects to SMC Broadband router (192.168.2.1)

Wingate will run for 7-8 hours then I lose all external connections I can't even ping the router. This happens on version 5.2.2 and I have even reverted back to 5.0.7 and still get the same problem. Only fix is to reboot the box and the connection to the outside world is a back

Any ideas?

Do you get any Syslog messages in GateKeeper ? Generally, with P2P software (Especially when you have a number of clients using it) is to limit the number of connections they can establish. (Search for posts regarding emule on the forum) as they quite agressively consume system resources.

Just the normal firewall blocks

There is only 1 client using P2P this has limits of 10 outgoing and 4 incoming connections.
