Some questions about wingate 6.6.4 bandwidth

Postby TillLinderman » Sep 02 11 9:05 pm

Hello.
In advance I am sorry for my awful english. This is not my native language.
My users are going to the Internet by wingate 6.6.4.
Now I need to reduce speed connection by certain ip.
I have some troubles with tuning ens bandwidth.
What I did:
I open "bandwidth control" tab
After that I click on "Restrictions" tab
After that click "Add" to create a new restriction.
I fill "Name of restriction" field.
Priority level i left without changes.
In type of restriction i choose "kilobits of traffic".
ok.
Then I go to "Rules" tab.
Open properties.
In "General" tab I choose "Protocols - All" and put All checkboxes In 3 items more low.
Then I click "Source Destination" tab
and put checkbox on "Rule is beDirectional Source <> Destination"
Put checkbox on anyport.
"source of traffic" i put certain ip (certain ip what i need to reduce connection speed) and mask 255.255.255.255
"destination for traffic" not filled.
OK
Then I save properties that I changed earlier.
And try to download speed in PC that using restrictioning ip. Nothing changed. Speed is not reduced.
If i filled "destination for traffic" by ip of my proxy, and save this, then all PC in my local network receive reducing speed internet connection.
Where I made mistakes?
What I should do to receive correct results?

Hi

I did some testing. looks like you need to specify in this case the source is 0.0.0.0 / 0.0.0.0 and the destination is the restricted client / 255.255.255.255

I'm not sure why it changed, I'll need to look further into this.

Regards

Adrien I had bad news.
I will put all settings like you said.
New problems appeared.
Irrespective of what i writing in speed string, PC with restrictioning IP has the same downloading speed all time.
I describe you what i mean:
When i did all what you say, all users going online on usual speed.
PC with restrictioning IP going to internet too. Speed limit in wingate settings was restricted by 200 Kbits per sec. Restrictioning PC's downloading speed was approximatelly 8-10 Kb per sec (80 Kbit per sec) and did not getting higher.
Then I put speed limit by 400 Kbits per second. But PC's downloading speed did'nt change. I tried different value in speed string but PC's downloading speed remained on same level.
What do you think about this situation?
Thankful in advance

Hi

I need to do some more testing on this problem. It should work with the original settings. It's possibly a bug.

Good afternoon Adrien.
I have understood all.
It is a pity that while there are no results. I will wait them.

I doubt that it is a bug. The program the official license. I haven't revealed errors in other modules and adjustments of this version of wingate. They all working correctly.
Thankful in advance

Hello Adrien.
Still no ideas appeared about my troubles?
I want to ask you:
Whether have wingate any global settings of bandwidth?
I have asked you because I feel that the program reducing connection speed regardless of the fact that I write in a line of limitation of speed.
I forgot to add some information for you.
NAT in wingate settings is off. (I cleared this checkbox)
May be this information will be helpful.

Hi

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to double check this.

Does it make any difference if NAT is enabled?

Hi

we've been trying to replicate this in the lab today. They haven't had the problem you had initially about rules not working.
