Authentication prompt out problem

Hi guys,


I have enabled Basic "authentication where required by policies" it works great but everytimes i visit any site it keep prompt out?
like i visit google.com "prompt out" after enter the username and password, i open a new tab or new search yahoo.com "prompt out' again.
how do i fix this?

the best way to fix this is to configure the browser to use a proxy server. then when it is asked to auth by the proxy, it knows it's the proxy.

are you on an active directory? If so, use group policy to set proxy settings.

Now i having 1 problem,
allow = all sites , block = facebook
i create a group called "allow" users name called a b c d
and a group called "block" users name called e f g h
in users > system policies i added allow authenticated and block may be assumed with banlist.

now this is what i dont understand, myself is in block group. i open ie and prompt out username and password i use admin power account to temporary access facebook but failed.. did i set wrong anything?

you're setting these rules up in system policy, so you need to consider also what policy is defined in the web proxy as well.

Is there anything in there?

p.s. what user shows up in GateKeeper when you do this?

Some browsers try first always with local windows creds, even if you type in some other user/pass. IE I've seen do this. What version of IE is this?

After half and hour i try.. it work lol....
i add another WWW proxy server port 3128 with basic authentication > policies i add everyones,for those use 80 can visit any site but facebook without login.. but 1 thing.. i have to configure the proxy to 3128 and reopen ie to login username and password to access facebook temporarly.. after used i have to disable the 3128 again.

i think im fine now.. just have to keep enable and disable lol.

i think IE only does this for NTLM, so if you disable NTLM on the proxy on port 80 it might work as well.

How do i disable NTLM?
My network is running Domain for authentication, what you want is dont let IE pass cred to the proxy? will this effect on my domain network if i disable?

it's a setting on the general tab of the web proxy.

I think you would have a lot more success with WinGate 7.

WinGate 7 will use a lot of the settings from WinGate 6 registry. We recommend you install WinGate 7 over the top of a WinGate 6 registry, rather than try and import a WinGate 6 registry over the top of WinGate 7, as that will cause problems.

Yesterday morning some users using proxy server suddenly popout "Host not found" after type in username and password.
I didn't set anything in my WG 6.6.4 past few days.. i have try to stop all services and restart the computer still not working even deleted and re add the proxy service, i have no clue whats going on now.. need assist.

sounds like some issue with DNS. Did your WinGate server DNS settings change (e.g. in the network adapters), or did your WinGate DNS client (in WinGate) settings change?

Nothing change just checked everything.. dunno what happen... umm

It could be environmental - e.g. something else in your network environment or ISP.

For instance I've seen some DSL/NAT devices stop working for DNS after a while.
