Wingate being used as a public proxy HELP!!!

Postby hcsceo » Jan 20 04 9:29 am

I've tried everything to secure the wingate server but to no avail I'm still being used as a public proxy. I have a internal WEB server that needs public access and this seems the be the root of my problems. If I unbind the external adapter under WWW server proxy service the web server goes down, but the activity of the public proxy goes away. If I bind the external adapter to the WWW proxy service which then redirects to an internal server then the webserver works but the activity tab shows public use from all over the place. Is there a way to fix this?

Two things to try.

1. On the Interfaces Tab of the WWW Proxy select

Connections to be made out on the following interface only

and specify the internal IP address of the WG server.

2. Policies - Everyone - Advanced - Specify which requests this recipient has rights for -

Add Filter -

Add Criterion -

This criterion is met - Is non-proxy request - is TRUE.

These two should lock things down for you.

As an alternative you could use a TCP Mapping Service instead of a WWW Proxy.

Let us know if this works for you.
