Mail: random "Terminated exit code 1"

Postby groch » Jan 21 04 1:10 am

hi.
i'v encountered a problem with mail.
very offen i get such an error message in OE
"there was a problem loging into your mail server, your user name was rejected"
"server response: 'X-Scanning: 20 sec', Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91"

Wingate 5.2.2
SMTP/POP3 Server ON
POP3 Server has TR ON
POP Proxy Server has Visnetic4.4.3.1 AV plugin ON

in Pop3 Proxy Server log file i see Terminated exit code 1 when this error occures and Terminated exit code 0 when every thing is ok.

the fault is not in my remote mail account, cause i have 6 of them and that error is very random, one second its for all accounts, next second is for none or just one. Previous Wingate versions were free of this error.
where should i seek solution, this keeps getting more and more annoying

OK, that response is sent by the scanning system when WinGate POP3 proxy is scanning an email.

Normally this will only happen after you have logged in, and started retrieving mail, so to see this returned to you when your email client is trying to log in is very unusual - I will have to check and see if there is a bug in WinGate that could have been introduced which could cause this.

Hi

Can you post the content of your POP3 proxy log when this happens? Error code 1 means there was some error which terminated the session, either in the connection to the POP3 server, or if the client closes the connection. There should be some log entry associated with this if it is an error condition... if no error log entry is there, that narrows it down to 2 places in the code.

You say you have TR on and handover from the POP3 server to the POP3 proxy.

Your client machines aren't then also making proxy requests are they? i.e. using usernames like user#servername?

Yes, TR handsover pop3server to pop3 proxy server
client machines dont use proxy at all, TR does this for me and only for 110port

ok some log fragments:
POP3 Server
0000657536 Debug: C=>: USER groch1979
0000657536 Debug: POP3: Session handover to proxy
0000657546 Created:
0000657546 Debug: <=S: +OK POP3 Server ready <644480834.110998592@serwer>

POP3 Proxy Server
0000657532 Requested: POP3: groch1979 at 212.126.20.4
0000657536 Requested: POP3: groch1979 at 212.126.20.4
0000657532 Terminated exit code 1
0000657536 Terminated exit code 0

ok, in step by step:
1. OE checks accounts for mail
2. first account no mail
3. second, few secs waiting i get a popup that the user/pass i wrong
4. i click OK, user/pass with no changes
5. now it passes with no error

at end OE displays error list with the X-Scanning 20sec message
its very random and sometimes it asks to reenter user/pass and sometimes it does not just finishing with fail message and account not being checked.
if i disable AV plugin under Pop3proxyserver this error doesnt occure any more
