Using Wingate Proxy Server to perform Norton 360 Backup

I'm having trouble performing a Norton 360 Backup through the WinGate Proxy Server. I suspect a Norton site needs to be added to my list of Allowed Sites.

Where can I access a history in WinGate to determine the URL that is being denied?

I am able to update to Norton software through this Internet connection without incident.

I have found the error report in WinGate + Control Panel + Logging + Global Diagnostic.

How can I proceed to accept the error? I have the IP Address, the Source (WWW Proxy Server), and the User (Unknown).

I can't seem to specify a Source or that specific User for WinGate + Web Access Controls + Access Rules.

I am using WinGate 7 Free edition.

Hi

if you want to allow a certain IP on your LAN to do anything, you'd add the IP in the "where" tab in the web access control rule. That will make the rule apply only to connections from IPs listed there.

To allow that IP, then you'd just make the rule an allow rule, and make sure it's higher in the list than any rule that may deny it.

It is my understanding now from developers at Norton that Norton 360 Premier Edition does not support Backups through a proxy server.

Hi

Did you consider using a SOCKS client or even the WinGate client? This would divert the connections via the proxy without the need for the Norton software to know about the proxy.
