FTP and dns problem

Hi There!

I have a wingate 5.0.5(build 815) verison on a w2k DOMAIN CONTROLLER.
configured this to share my dsl internet for the clients.
I have two problems and I would like to kindly ask you to help me to solve my problems which are the followings:

1. I would like to use ftp from clients. I defined ftp proxy as a service. When I want to browse an ftp site from IE the site is hanging up. My firewall enebled ports are only 5700 and 3389. Please tell me which ports are needs to be enabled to use ftp upload and download function.

2. I have a different problem with this DC- wingate config. I want to use a mail access from all of the clients. I need to use an outer mail server(mail.axelero.hu) When I use outlook from the server it is working properly. When I am trying form clients it is not working. I tried to ping this site from the server and it works. After that I tried from clients too and however the dns name resolved the response is timed out.
What is the problem?

3. I have the same configuration just with a w2k member server not a DC.
When I wants to use ftp upload I could not upload files bigger than 100KB. When I turn off the firewall it works. Why?? :/

Hi

WinGate has a built in ftp proxy service, which operates on port 21. So as long as it is enabled in WinGate (which it is by default) and your client machines are configured to access the Internet through WinGate, then there should be no problems in them using FTP.

If you wish your clients to receive mail from an external mail server then WinGate email server settings will have to be configured to retrieve this on behalf of the clients. This is explained in the WinGate helpfile under "Email setup" options.

As for the FTP upload upload issue when does this occurr when you try and upload to a particular server? or all FTP servers?

I still have problem with FTP upload. I would like to describe the probelm for better understanding:
When I try to upload a bigger file than 100KB the upload process was hanging up. The curious thing is the download working properly in case of big files too. And the miracle is when I disable the firewall in wingate the ftp upload is working fine. So, do you have any idea what is the problem?
