dial up connection as an auto back up to a cable connection?

Running 5.2.2 on win2k. Main connection to internet is cable modem, works fine. Setup a dial up(pots) connect in wingate and that works fine also.

What I want to do is use my cable connection as the default. If my cable connection drops, automaticly start using my dial up configuration. Almost like a "connection list" but not just with multiple dial up numbers.

I have tried "playing" around, but if my dial up and cable modem are both active at the same time, wingate choses my dial up, not the cable modem. Is there a way to do what I am trying? I can get it to work manually, but sometimes I'm not around to do that and that is a problem.

It depends on your routing table - if you have both dialups setting defaults routes then the one with lower metric will be used.
