Gatekeeper from Wingate 8.0

Postby intell » Aug 06 13 3:22 am

My GK isn't working anymore, after I upgraded to Wingate 8.

"Activity", for example, is not updating data as it should. Devices already connected are not displaying any updates. It only displays the initial data. If we open (or close) sites, the data doesn't change at GK.

And if I change tab, for example from Activity to HTTP Cache (or Dashboard or anything else) GK stops updating values, and never updates again.

The only way for GK to update again is closing and reopening. Already tested logging local (localhost) and from another device in my network.

GK from Wingate 7 was behaving fine. Please help.

Hi

we haven't seen this problem before, would it be possible to have a look remotely at your system?

We normally recommend teamviewer for this.

If that's possible, could you email details to our supportdesk at support@wingate.com

p.s. which OS is this on.

Also is this over remote desktop or directly on the computer itself, or remotely?

I don't have TV installed, can I provide a temp login/password for Remote Desktop?

I tested on the computer itself, remotely (remote desktop) and even copied GK and its dlls to test in another computer. Same results.

p.s. I can have a look soon if you can get me connection and login details (will need WinGate Management login and windows / domain login). WinGate management login will need to allow me access to all the settings in WinGate as well.

**EDIT***

It seems everything went back on track after I upgraded Visual C++ 2010 runtimes to SP1! Thanks anyway adrien :)

Hi intell.
I would like to look into this issue so could you let me know what OS and platform (32 or 64 bit) you were running? Also, had you made any changes to the VC++ runtimes yourself at all like downgrading to a version before SP1? I ask because the WinGate installer ships with the VC 2010 SP1 runtimes and should install those before installing the rest of WinGate.

Wingate 8 is installed in a Windows 2008 R2 x64.

Some time after I installed wingate, Windows Update poped a new update regarding Visual C++ 2010 SP1, and installed a 8.6 mb update.

After this new update was installed, problem solved.

Thank you for the information. Just to be sure, when WinGate was installing the upgrade from 7 to 8 did you let it install the VC++ 2010 SP1 redistributables? It should have prompted you to do so then.

Thanks

btw, let me ask you guys..

I'm watchting the new wingate 8 eating 1,2 gb of ram after only 6 hours of initialized. Is this normal?

I have a 9gb cache partition dedicated for HTTP Cache, not sure if the replace of mysql did that.

Hi intell, see your other post as I have replied to that.

Migrating from 7 to 8 should keep your volume, but it will be empty. Therefore you would need to have repopulated your cache with millions upon millions of files to get your memory usage anywhere near that much.
