Hi
We've not been approached by the NSA, since we're based in New Zealand, we're outside their jurisdiction.
We have in fact been approached by the GCSB, which some would say is the local equivalent, in relation to our VPN product, since it provides encryption, and there is a treaty to which New Zealand is party called the Wassenaar Arrangement, governing export of restricted materials and technologies.
Out VPN product doesn't fall under the requirements of this however, since it uses widely-available consumer crypto, and does not provide a mechanism for the user to swap out the crypto layer.
We have not been asked to put in any back doors, and I think it would be difficult if not impossible to get a court order to compel us to do that in New Zealand.
