pc only connects when proxy settingd set in explorer

Hi All,

Have WinGate8 running on server 2012, DHCP by server 2012.
I had this all working as per norm, with DG and DNS allocated to the PC but no proxy settings at home. All worked a treat!!

Now, I've moved it to site, Wingate will only see any device (PC etc) if the settings are put into the proxy server field in IE or Chrome. My IP for the wingate Server is 10.217.12.2, as are the DNS and DG on anything I connect. Put this IP in the Proxy field and it starts to work...

Looking at the client activity, it sees absolutely nothing until the proxy field is entered. Could it be that I have moved it to a different site?

Is the WinGate server the default gateway for the computers?

Yep... Either via DHCP or static settings DNS and D.G. are the address of the WINGATE server...

I've been on this for 6 hours now.... AAaagghhh

I can ping back and forth no problem...

Is ENS enabled on WinGate and Intercept turned on on the proxy service?

Well they ..should.. be as i have not changed anything.. about to re check for you..

OK - if ENS is enabled and you're still not seeing anything in the Activity pane I'm at a loss. If you ping somewhere on the outside like www.yahoo.com do you see activity?

Hi

I would check windows firewall settings. Make sure that WinGate is allowed (and if it had been updated, sometimes it show wingate.exe is allowed, but it isn't because it's a previous version). We've seen cases where we had to re-add the rule.

Also if you have more than 1 IP on the internal adapter, and say the WWW proxy is only bound to one of them it can create issues like this.

Found DNS active on Server 2012... uninstalled that as it is not needed.

Now my clients are popping up on the activity! Result - er nope.

They are all unknown. No connection, nothing.

HELP... some one...

OK here's the score...

I've tried everything. setup default rules allowing everyone anything everywhere... looked at users groups etc... created some new ones... Looked at the flow charts and adjusted them to allow all...

Absolutely NOTHING authenticates.

If there's anyone out there who can dial in I'll PM my Logmein details over...

Hi Guys!!

Matt has dialled in with Logmein and installed drivers to my LAN (private) network adaptor and now packets are going through.

I will return to work in the morning and verify all is well in the world :)

I have to say a BIG thanks for you lot logging in to my server on a Sunday night (as it is in the UK).
