HTTP Proxy Server Service: Override the Port Which Listen to

Postby leyokumio » Dec 17 13 8:53 pm

To: Sir
Our company has an upstream proxy to control users outbound traffic. Does it mean Wingate proxy services must set that proxy server to be my upstream server (if our web services are just for internal users.) Also, our company's upstream proxy, e.g. proxy1 port XXXX , does it means that on my binding policy must set to bind with that proxy's port XXXX?
I have tried to override the port number but it return error. Also, if I set the Wingate proxy services to Port XXXX, whenever usres get access to the Wingate proxy server they have to type the ip address of Wingate proxy server plus the specified port XXXX, e.g. http://192.168.0.1:8080. Is there anyway that user just type the ip address to get into the Wingate proxy server.

Hi Ken,

Do you want your users to connect to WinGate, and then WinGate will forward those connections to your upstream proxy server? You can do this on the Connection tab (Control Panel::Services::WWW Proxy Server) by checking the box "Connect via upstream proxy" and entering the details of your upstream proxy. Now all connections that come into the WinGate WWW Proxy will be sent to your upstream proxy.

If you use proxy settings in the browser on the client machines then you can specify the WG server's IP address and port to connect to.

Regards,

Matt

I have set the upstream server already. Thx, I only wanna users who get access to my WG proxy don't have to type port number(http://192.168.0.13:XXXX/). However, I have problem because my upsteam proxy using port XXXX. Therefore, when I set the internet adapter that need to bind to, I have to set the port XXXX.Otherwise, there are error and can't function.
