Reverse Proxy - Server behind wingate

Postby breese » Sep 05 14 12:49 pm

I just completed a fresh install of WG 6.6
I have a web server behind wingate
Reverse proxy setup pointing to the IP of the server
Users outside my local lan can access the server without issue.

From within my local lan (machines behind wingate with web server) cannot access web server per the domain name.
In WWW Proxy server properties / Logging, I have turned on Debug and restarted Wingate
What log file should I be looking at to see the debug and will it tell me what is trying to access the web server from within my network?

I had this issue Years ago and Adrien was able to find a bug and fix the issue.
thanks

Hi

how are the internal clients connecting to the internet? If via NAT, there could be a problem in that you can't NAT to the external interface of the WinGate, which is likely the IP that the name resolves to for your reverse proxy.

Try setting a client to use the proxy instead and see if that helps.

The wingate machine is on local lan 192.168.1.1
My clients are setup with
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Preferred DNS 192.168.1.1
2nd DNS 8.8.4.4

Just sent you an email thru support

Adrien,

Thank you for the info...
Problem is I had this issue before. Did not understand it then, and still do not understand it.

The last thing I want to do is kill the Wingate machine and have to start over
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=51760&p=50296&hilit=reverse+proxy#p50296

As for the web server access - Thank you. Adding the sites to the Host file fixed it... I should have known that....
