im a networking newbie! need help

hi,
ive got 3 computers with a hub, and the host is sharing the internet but thats it, im uing sygaqte for this, i used to use microsoft xp (basic not pro) and it shared files and printers and the net but then one day it stopped working. will wingate share files as well for me? if not what sort of program am i looking for, i.e. is it a proxy server? i just dnt know! plzz help!
