Assumption of user problem

Postby 1ahanco » Mar 01 04 8:24 am

Hello,

I have the following scenario:

A NT4 server (also the Wingate server) runs a mail server and other
applications which run through Wingate. This is done by assuming the
server name - ie server assumed to be email (which is a Wingate user).
This account is restricted so that only email and the virus scanner
have permission to use it.

I log into gatekeeper as administrator (on the server) to update the virus scanner,
windows updates, surf etc. This use to work but since I last reset the server
it isn't. I don't think that I have changed anything in this area! I
just get access denied in the system log - but it is denied to the email account
not the administrator's account!

Then I temporary removed the assumption and it denied the guest login
in the system log (guest account is disabled).

Does anyone know why isn't the gatekeeper's login overriding the lower access like it
use to?

Thanks

Hi

Are you still connecting in GateKeeper to the actual same IP that the mail server is?

For instance if you connected to 127.0.0.1 with GateKeeper but the IP address of your LAN card with the email server (or vice-versa), then they would be seen as different machines (even though of course they are the same).
