Blackhole all IP except one or two

Postby fastresponse » Mar 07 04 6:00 am

I am using wingates latest evaluation version. I want to blackhole all IPs except one or two.

Example :
Wingate Server IP is : 192.168.0.1
1st Client IP is : 192.168.0.2
2nd Client IP is : 192.168.0.3

I don't want block 1, 2 and 3 no. IP. Should i enter all range of IP one by one or there is other way to block all IP's except these 3.
pls. help.

Hi there

How do you mean you want to block all other IPs.?

Do you mean external IPs from the Internet?

This is done by WinGates firewall and the binding only internal Ips to the appropriate proxies and services (so they can only be used from the inside clients with private IP addresses).

You can read about how WinGate handles Internal(Private) and External (Public IP addresses) in our knowledge base on our website

I want to block internel private IPs 192.168.0.4 to 192.168.0.254

Hi There,

I guess you have taken a look at the Help Menu, but if not, here is what it says about blocking a range. I know this is probably not exactly what you are trying to do (say IP Address's 100.0.0.0 > 200.0.0.0 etc.), but maybe it's a help.

*************************************************************
HELP INDEX: IP Blackhole

Network Extensions - IP Blackhole

Ban a Range of IPs - You may also add entire ranges of IP addresses to your ban list. In the screenshot below, (not include here) for example, the 4th IP on the list has a ‘0’ on the end – as does its mask. This means that all machines on the same subnet as this IP, are now also banned from your network.

Note: Ensure the ‘Enable IP Blackhole list’ box is checked to make the driver check for these IPs. Failure to do this means that IPs on your blackhole list may still be allowed onto your network.

What you may want to ask Qbik Team for, is a future "BAN ALL - WITH EXCEPTION OF" type option. I haven't a clue if this is easy or hard for them to plan for a future version of the software, but it would most likely also depend on how many users are interested in this facility.

Nothing more.
