Wingate Internet Client not asking for user/pass

For some reason the WGIC isnt prompting for a username and password to be entered when I have "Users require authorization" set in the winsock service. The WGIC just assumes the username is Guest.
Has anyone else had this problem, but more importantly, how do I fix it.

Do you have "System Policies" set to "Are ignored" ?

Yes I do. I did have Wingate Server installed on the machine that Im now using as a client, but I uninstalled Wingate Server and then put Wingate Client on. Could there be some stuff (reg keys maybe) left from the Wingate Server install that is making Wingate Client conflict?

I tried removing all of the Wingate keys from the registry but I wasnt allowed to remove all of them, maybe because i dont have administrator rights on the computer im installing the client on.

Could that be another issue, do you need administrator rights to install the client? I didnt get any errors when i installed though, so im assuming you dont need administrator rights.

Every request I do from the client gets recieved by the server but then denied.
System Messages says
" Authentication failed - User Guest on x.x.x.x requested"

What is the default password for Guest set to?

If you check in GateKeeper, can you see the WRP control channel being established ?

Also, what operating system are you using ? Which user database (NT/WG) ?

The server is running XP and the client is running 2K. Im using the Wingate user database.

It was prompting me for a username and password a couple of times, but now it doesnt seem to want to do it at all.

And no, the control channel is not being resolved anymore

Right. Which means the machine is finding another way to connect. Double check the TCP/IP settings and check that Internet Explorer is not set to use the Proxy.

Ok, did nothing and it started working, so i rebooted to see if it would still keep working, but now im getting a message saying
"This version of the Wingate Client is not valid with the Wingate Server"

Ive got no idea how this error has been coming up since the WGIC came from the same file as the server did
