Hi,
I'm desperated!! Two days I'm trying to get WG to work and I can't!! Please please help me!! (and excuse my possible bad english, I'm french ;-)
I installed Wingate 5.2.2 (server) on a XP system, and the client on another XP system as well. But I have a BIG problem: the WGIC doesn't establish connection!!
At first I thought it was because my account was protected with a password, so I removed it, but it doesn't change anything!
Actually, on the client computer I have two boot partitions (both XP), I started installing and the one with a password (XP session) but never worked. So I boot on the other one, to see, and then it all worked fine!!
That's why I thought the password was blocking it, but I removed the password and it still doesn't work.
What I've seen is that in the logging (Gatekeeper) the username field is left blank, only computer and WG user are filled. I was sure it came from there, especially because creating a new XP session (user "toto") it all worked (username=toto), so it is not from XP.
What I noticed is that Wingate seems to "remember" stuff, because I changed the computer's name and in the history is still says the old name. I had to use "toto" to make it see the new name, but then with my session as computer name I have the IP address !!
So I thought stuff where remembered, and I change the IP address too! So only usernames (of XP sessions) are the same. At first it didn't do any changes, so I added a new WG user and I set in the Winsock Rediection Service policies that users must be authenticated.
Was not easy to do, and I'm not sure I know how I did it, but now I'm getting the WGIC login window, asking to to enter my user/pwd! Thank God!
Only now in the history (server) all fields are fulled and correct, but WGIC still doesn't "start" , I mean no connection is made...
..and I don't know what to do now! I don't know why it does not work with my session, but if I create a new one then everything works fine!! It seems it's only with MY session, only it's the one I need to have working!
I don't know what I can say more... Oh I've reboot, uninstall and reinstall both server and client, no changes. I'm not using NT users database, my IP addresses are 10.0.0.x and I tryied in closing ALL software that were running (antivirus, etc) before installing WGIC, but the installation is fine only when I run IE and try to go somewhere, it's not working. and in the history only DNS are present, because of the DNS address I've added, bug WGIC does nothing...
Actually (! ;-) latest news: just remember that having set up the policies and all, now WGIC ask for user/pwd, and then the connection window show up!! Thar's right!! (How could I forgot about that??)
Only it shows up, and then a new WGIC asking user/pwd shows up, and after I "OKed" all windows (WGIC) are closed, and I'm left without a connection....
Really seems like WGIC can't work, but it does just fine with any other sessions I create... and I closed every running app... so I'm totally lost!
I really hope you'll be able to help me, cause I really need that to work!!
Thank you all for reading this very long post,
And thanks for your help!
