How to restrict downloading of files?

If I want to block access to downloading of certain file types e.g. .exe, .mpg etc. how can this be done?

I've tried using "Server name ends with .mpg" in the policies but it has not worked.

For example I want to block access to an mpg file and am using this url as an example:

http://home.in.tum.de/~paula/mpeg/wg_wt_2.mpg

Try using "HTTP URL" rather than the "Server Name".
