MRTG and Wingate

Postby guffer » Mar 19 04 7:57 am

Anyone got any ideas on this one?

I have a win2k box that I share my adsl from, and have setup mrtg to log the usage patterns. The win2k box is on 24/7 downloading/uploading, however I have noticed some strange things in mrtg.

If the traffic is generated on the wingate computer it logs it, eg. FTP connection or from apache thats running on it.

However, anything that wingate has to route from the network does not get logged.

Anyone had this before or got some suggestions? It to do with the binding order but I can't find a way to chage where wingate binds.

Wingate driver intercept network packets before they reach protocol level - therefore, if MRTG relies on the system knowledge about traffic volumes without using some kind of a miniport or hooking driver underneath, it will not see this traffic....
