Connection fails after 5.2.3 update

Postby sdenman » Apr 05 04 11:51 pm

After updating from 5.2.2 to 5.2.3, internet access on the server (and all other machines) failed.

Uninstalation of 5.2.3 restored internet connection to server, but reinstall of 5.2.3 caused the same problem again.

I rolled back to 5.0 (most recent version i have!) and connection was immediatly returned to normal again.

Any suggestions? Or else would it be possible to have a link to 5.2.2 so that i can use it until this problem is resolved?

This pretty much looks like the problem I (and some other users) experience. When you have installed ver 5.2.3 check your network. If all your network has become invisible (open Explorer and Network) then the problem is related to the ENS driver. Unloading and disabling the ENS driver (in Wingate under Extended Networking) may resolve the problem (do not forget to reboot). The problem maybe related to the use of 2 NIC's in the server (one for internal networking and the second to connect to the Internet if you use a DSL connection).

The Qbik guys have not found an answer yet but I am hopeful they do soon. Meanwhile try the above or stick to version 5.0 (for me it worked upto ver 5.1.9, ver 5.2.2 and 5.2.3 resulted in the same problem).

Don't really want to run without ENS as i am using NAT almost exclusivly. The server (win 2000) does have 2 network cards in though - one for lan and one for DSL modem.

Thanks for the advice,

hello, i have exactly the same problem.
the proxy work fine before i upgrade it (in was in 5.2.2 version, but with only one network card in it), and since i upgrade to the 5.2.3, no network browsing is possible when the ENS driver is activated, and i don't want to run wingate without the fonctionallity of firewall alive (can't disable ENS), i of course i have 2 network cards in the computer,
if anyone find a solution ...
Note for sdenman : i have the 522 version, if you want it, but when i try to downgrade to this version, the problem was the same
