5.0.10 GateKeeper Issues

Postby labull » Oct 10 03 11:08 am

In 5.0.10

GateKeeper - Help - Check Version - no longer has a web page to check against.

GateKeeper - Help - Licenses - AV License is not displayed. AV is installed, shows up in Plugins and is catching infected Email.

Thanks!

Hi, Adrien.

No. I'm not.
Just upgraded from 5.0.8.

Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

You might take a look at the web pages your software is going to for updates
seems they are still going to deerfield.com's web space and thus it is getting page not found errors
this does not make me feel real secure in updating this software

Nope. Goes here-

http://www.wingate.com/updatecheck.cfm?Version=5.0.10

www.wingate.com domain is safely in Qbik's posession and points to a Qbik site.

I highly recommend you update to 5.0.10.

It's working fine here. Only problems I've observed are cosmetic.

thanks for the quick replay :)
my software goes to
http://wingate.com/autoupdate
I got "unauthorized to view this page"
hmmm ?? maybe it doesn't like California Air Heads?

Then I went to check version
http://www.wingate.com/updatecheck.cfm?Version=5.0.6
and got Page Not Found

http://www.wingate.com is getting your web site

okay - I'll update tonight after I update my web site so if it blows chunks I'm not throwing things

Not my web site. 'Tis Qbik's!

BTW - California has not cornered the market on air heads!

Yet! :)

>*grin*<
Ahh yes. But I am a certified California Air Head, born in Hollywood hospital, now living in Northern California in Santa Cruz country.

The main URL http://www.wingate.com does load on your web site as http://www.Qbik.com
that is what I was trying to communicate and not succeeding.
it is the inside pages my version of wingate is loking for that don't load.
I had run the .0.7 update and it never updated the version number. I didn't really notice that until now when it told me it failed an auto update the other night and wanted me to go to the web site and download the new software. It was after 2 am when I noted this so I went to sleep.
I just remembered and went to update and it told me I wasn't allowed there.
anyhow I'll update in around five hours after I get the web site updated - I'll be back if it blows up .. aren't you lucky?

When I just now clicked on SpellCheck (I flip letters) It opened a window to "Page Not Found" you might want to check that out -
A place to start: when they moved my web site to another server I had to go into my forum's software setup and give it the new path to things because the Real Path changed and the board software used the real path. Maybe that's what is going on here with the forum not finding its spelling checker?
thanks for caring :)

totally unrelated but might interest you:
---------------------------------------------------
I am using the Invision forum software. It loads real fast and is real simple to administrate (for air heads like me) and FREE. You can take a peek (no ads, no flash, no pop-ups on my forum)
http://www.elvinsystems.com/invision/index.php
the server is running
Apache Version: 1.3.28 (Unix)
PHP Version: 4.3.3
MySQL Version: 4.0.15-standard

I am pointing this out as this PHP BB board loads very slow.
My server is in Florida which is across the US from me. Yet the Invision board loads real fast. This PHP BB forum loads very slow and times out to blank pages a lot. It may be the board software as the Qbik web site runs pretty fast

I'm not a Qbik employee nor do I play one on television.

However, if you can get them to send me money I'll split it with you!

Qbik does monitor the board and will likely see your post tomorrow.

Good luck with your upgrades. Should be no problem.

Update installed without a problem. So even a certified California Air Head can do this:
But
the "check version" from the pull down help menu at the top
still gets a "Page Not Found" error
it goes to http://www.wingate.com/updatecheck.cfm?Version=5.0.10

might want to check that out on your end

Still with gatekeeper problems

Postby inharry » Oct 15 03 9:05 am

Adrien,
(please excuse my english).

We still with gatekeeper problems.
Since my previous post (with attached images) discovered something new: we have random gatekeeper disconnects from server.

With 5.0.7 we had not this problem.
Please, help.

Looks like 5.08, 5.09 and 5.10 were not fully tested before launched.

Thanks,
Homero Gonzalez.

I am at work so I do not have the control menu in front of me - but see if you can follow this anyway

Look at the control panel for gatekeeper
look for OPTIONS
there is a setting starting with 5.0.6 that allows one to set how long a thread will remain "alive" after there is "No activity"

Because my daughter runs a merchant charater in agame the thread must stay alive (sop the character can sell stuff) while she is not around. Setting the time periods to infinity (never time out) worked.

I have not had a problem with 5.0.10 killing the idle threads or loosing an active thread "yet" Doesn't mean I won't. I jusyt haven't seen the problem

Try setting the time outs to never time out and see if that helps

Wingate DNS problems

Postby shadows » Oct 15 03 11:30 am

It seeems wingate 5.0.9 and 5.0.10 have dns problems. 5.0.7 does have them clients can connect as soon as wingate is installed on the server. I can only get 5.0.9 and 10 to work once but when the dial up disconnects that's it the dns doesn't seem to work (no clients can connect). Is this a bug because 5.0.7 doesn't have this problem.

I'm using hard IPs. thus I don't see the problem
there are only seven to ten systems which include the server - hard IPs worked just fine so I use them
