Wingate work with Active Director User Database

Postby luozx » Apr 23 04 6:19 pm

We are trying to install Wingate to work with Active Director User Database. and change the registor setting.
>To make WinGate synchronise with a Primary Domain Controller on NT Domain :
>From the Run command on the Start Menu type Regedit.
>Expand to the key called >HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\QbikSoftware\WinGate\UserDatabase.
>Create a string value called DomainServer
>Set the value in the form of a \\Servername , where Servername is the Computer name of the Primary Domain controller.

I can get few user names and most the group names from AD.
And I add a new user in AD, and synchronize in gatekeeper , no user add.

what can I do now?

Thanks for help.

Hi there

When this knowledge base article was written (or the registry setting was made) it was designed to work on a NT domain not an Active Directory.

However to get it to work in an Active Directory (and I shall be updating the knowledgebase article shortly :-) After following the registry entry, do the following:

On the machine with WinGate installed open the Services MMC (Under Computer management) and select the QBIK WinGate Engine service.
Select "properties" and then the Log on tab.

Where it says "Log On as" select an account from the Active Directory that has full domain Adminstrator privilages (you can always set one up specially for this purpose in AD users and Computers). Then you will have to restart the WinGate engine and synchronise the database.

I would also suggest reading the other knowledgebase articles on WinGate and Active Directory to make sure everything will work fine.

Hope this helps

Regards
