WinGate 5.0.7 Gatekeeper + Windows NT4 SP6a problem.

Postby david.rolston » May 18 04 8:38 pm

Hi. I have a problem with GateKeeper on Windows Server NT4 SP6a. It has been working fine for a long time but now when I start GateKeeper it looks like it's continually refreshing the GateKeeper Window and effectively hangs. I've tried uninstalling it and re-installing it, deleting the logs etc but to no avail. WinGate itself is working fine but other than by using the registry I can't use GateKeeper to modify settings. The only way to get rid of GateKeeper is to kill it using the Task Manager.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

This normally happens if you have an old version of comctl.dll on your system. This is the DLL that provides the tree control used by the GateKeeper activity window.

Normally if you have IE4 or later on your machine you are ok... you could try upgrading IE on that machine.

Thanks Adrien

That's more than likely it because the Server was re-installed and since internet access is not required on the Server IE was never upgraded.
