installation problem

I have tried installing wingate 5 and 6 on a freshly formatted windows98 pc with updates. before installing wingate i installed a zyxel adsl prestige 630.11 modem. This worked fine on reboot. I then installed wingate and on reboot got a windows protecion error (please reboot). ie I didnt get into windows. In safe mode I uninstalled wingate and the pc rebotted into windows no problem and connected to adsl. There must me an incompatibility between wingate and the adsl modem. Any ideas? or which adsl modems work with wingate.

Hmm Tony, probably a conflict between Qbik's NAT driver qbikhk.* and the installed drivers / modem or os.

1\ Try a re-install, de select Install NAT during this phase or just disable NAT under the extended networking tab in GK [GateKeeper].

However, this will mean no firewall is present so beware!

2\ If the above works and you are able to set the proxy to provide internet to downstream clients a firewall solution I used to use was Visnetic, could be an answer for that os!

3\ Try a more current os.
