VPN Setup to use telnet ?

Postby geseekoo » Jun 04 04 6:00 am

Hi i currenty have a computer that is on the wan and is protected by a sotware firewall , (which i have switched off for testing ) its running xp

i can telnet from this computer in to our server using telnet servername@.thevcx.con

because the ip address of this computer is allowed through our firewall

i want to be able to vpn into this computer from the web and then telnet into our servers , is this possible or have i mis understood the vpn ?

is there another better way to do this ?

Thanks in advance , yours completly confused

Hi Paul,

The VPN will basically allow you to be on a remote computer and have that computer participate in your LAN. It is a secure connection to your LAN, so anything you can do on your LAN you should be able to do from the remote computer.

If you place the VPN host on the LAN with the servers then you will be able to Telnet to them from any computer that joins the VPN.

I hope this answers your questions, if not just let us know.
