For about 5 days now we cannot send outgoing email. I have called our ISP and they report no problems and are not doing any blocking.
We can receive email and we are able to go online. (DSL connection)
We currently have Wingate version 5.2.3.
Shortly before we were prevented from sending outgoing emails we were hit with some spamming.
My in-box was filled with a few hundred emails from Wingate telling me they blocked us from sending out emails due to them containing the I-Worm NetSky.q virus.
Message from Wingate was: "WinGate Datascanning blocked an email you sent".
Which is fine, it shows that it didn't send it out...but after a few days of this blocking suddenly we could not send out ANY emails.
Now the emails I'm getting are responses from the destinations that have had emails sent to them but blocked them...so I guess a few of those got threw wingate or someone is just using our @ names to send this virus infected emails.
I'm not sure what on Wingate would cause this blocking of the SMTP outgoing server.
Anyone else experiencing this or has in the past?
We are waiting on a call in from our IT guy that we use on a consulting basis, but just in case he still lags in calling in, I'd like to put this out there to see if I can get some help.
I also scanned the computer that houses the Wingate and our DSL and could not find the I-Worm virus on it.
