wingate 5.2.3 on winxp pro with 2NICs problem!

Postby eewai » May 29 04 12:44 am

recently i've tried to installed it to a p4 2.8ghz machine with 2NICs and winxp pro 1a with all the patches installed.

but once i've started the computers, it will restart itself or just hang there after couple of minutes...

if i stop the wingate engine, it works fine...

and i've tried out winroute pro on the same machine, it works fine too..

guys, i don't want to switch to other proxy server... pls help me asap.

thank you.

Let me know how it goes. Did you see the actual blue screen or the machine just restarted with no information whatsoever? Also, what other firewalls do you have installed?

the machine just restart itself without any prior notice...

there's no other firewall installed on this machine...and it actually has mail server software(MDaemon installed)...

right now i'm using wingate 6 beta.... already passed 8mins.... still looking good...

but the external iinterface looks like not working... it should be using my fixed ip... but what when i goto whatismyip.com, it doesn't show my real fixed ip.

What IP address does it show? It can be your ISP redirecting your HTTP connection.

could it be the bug for existing version(5.2.3)??? if yes, some other users should have encountered this problem too...

but i hvn't seen anyone discussing about this... or probably i've missed it somewhere..

Hi,

Can you disable reboot after crash so you can actually see where the error occured? It is enabled in Control Panel/System/Advanced/Recovery.

i've already disabled it.

my setup is something like this:
for NIC#1, it only has static ip with subnet mask (199.1.1.x/24) which and i didn't put in any other info like gateway, and dns.

for NIC#2, which is my external interface to internet, i've put in the fixed ip as well as the gateway and dns.

the strange thing is, when i plug my existing isdn router into the network, this machine will automatically add this router into gateway for the NIC#1.. very odd!

could it be something wrong with my network card settings?

could it be the irq conflict?

from those two NICs, i can see those two NICs have no conflict with other devices...

but when i use system information to look thru it, it has the same irq with usb controller...

irq 19 : Intel(r) 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller - 24D7 - status ok
irq 19 : Dlink DFE-538TX 10/100 Adapter #3 status ok too...

No, should be OK. You have not seen this type of crash/reboot before you installed Wingate, have you?

Ok, there is something about your setup: what network cards do you have on your machine?

i'm still having the bsod problem or the system just hang there....

another issue is, i seems cannot log into gatekeeper after i've key in the password.... the gatekeeper just hang there...

when the system hang or bsod, sometimes it will prompted BAD_pools or something related to the bad device drivers...

but i've the latest NIC drivers installed and it works fine without running wingate.

could it be firewall issue as well?
