No login box displayed for WGIC

Postby Zenez1631 » Jun 15 04 5:27 am

WG ver 5.2.3 Build 901

Wingate works fine untill i enable user authenticate. WGIC nevers displays a login box and guest is always shown as the user that is trying to login.

Thanks for any help

Hi,

Did you require authentication in the WinSock Redirection Service? You'll also have to specify that default rights are ignored otherwise the most permissive policy will be granted.

WGIC will send the username and password that the user has logged into the machine with, if that's not valid then it should pop up the dialer box. Which database are you using?

Regards,

Matt

Yes I required authentication in the WinSock Redirection Service and default permissions are ignored. I am loging in with the same username and password listed in the wingate database (not using NT db due to wingate running on XP home). everything looks like it should work however wingate thinks that guest is trying to login and a login box is never displayed on the client. works fine if i set the assumed box bu t the same user will not always use the same computer.

Thanks

Hi ZZ,

Can you please check the following:
1. You have not toggled off the WGIC, if you go to start>programs>WinGate Internet Client you can choose Toggle WGIC on/off, please click this, you should get a message saying that you have disabled the WGIC and you'll need an alternate connection method.
2. You are using the WGIC and you have set IExplore.exe to local access, WGIC will therefore ignore the application and if you have set the proxy or the default gateway you will still be able to connect to the WinGate server

Thanks,

Matt
