Hiya, I've been looking at Wingate for a solution to accessing Internet with my second comp.
I tried the MS-ICS but found it couldn't reliably forward all the ports needed in games so I turned to Wingate instead.
I'm on a LAN ethernet connection and I got 2 NICs in my "Router"-comp running Wingate5.2 and then I got my "Game"-comp with a Wingate client.
My aim is to run some basic servers on the router and use the second mainly for Gaming. Basically I need only the ICS/NAT-functionality as I got a Tiny Personal Firewall on both comps.
Also I got it installed w a permanent adress instead of DHCP to avoid getting spill-broadcasts onto my LAN, which upstes my ISP...
However, when I try to run f ex UT2004 I can connect to the UT master browser w/out any problem but I can only get say 8 servers pinged, then the rest go N/A. If I refresh the list they all go N/A. It sdeems there is a only a small window during which the Ping can take place and any subsequent refresh won't be let through.
I tried disbaling the Firewall in Wingate and in WGIC I gave it Global access as well as nonstandard connect seq, but none of it has helped.
Oh and if I connect the Gamecomp directly to my LAN I can run the games w no problem even w my firewall active so I don't believe the Firewall is the culprit.
I'm a bit stumped atm. Is there no way to redirect the ports the game needs or let through the pings?
Afaik UT2004 only needs ports UDP 7777-7779, TCP 28920, TCP 27920 for normal operation...
I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions on making it work...
