beta3 do not support multi-connections?

Postby seine » Jun 27 04 12:44 pm

I have 2 ADSLs with 1ISP,and they work very well in beta2.
I set them as external connection.
But now only 1 ADSL working at the same time, even network busy.

Hi

The multiple interface support in WinGate prior to Beta 3 was not really optimal. It relied on setting the source IP address on connections out, however outbound packets would still be sent out the same default route. It really only worked for incoming packets.

When we then changed over to the dynamic binding system in Beta 3, the Interfaces configuration in WinGate, which was dependent on the previous binding system, came into question. The first problem was that the concept of Interfaces was a bit flawed, and the second problem was that the information it required, was changed.

So we decided to remove the support for multiple external connections until we could do it properly.

To this extent, we are working on a new system for this, which will take into account other kinds of internet connections (i.e. multiple next hop options on a single interface), and work a lot better.

We didn't think many people were using this feature in WinGate, so I apologise for the inconvenience. This is the first time we have ever removed functionality from WinGate. We do have solid plans for a replacement.

So how exactly are you using the two connections? Are you rotating connections or do you have specific services bound to specific outbound interfaces?

I just use 2 connections for enhance bandwidth.
This is a utility function for small network, beacuse I register some low-speed connections satisfy us and cheap than high-speed connection.
OK,I have to bet back to 5.23
Thanks all the same

Hi

We do plan to support multiple connections again, soon. I am working through the best options. We want in the end for it to work a lot better than it did before, and allow more options for the types of connections people use.

In order to go back to 5.2.3, you should be able to just run the 5.2.3 installer over the top of WinGate 6.0 beta, however you will need to re-validate the bindings of your services, and probably reconfigure your Interfaces settings.

Unless you took a WinGate registry backup before you installed WinGate 6.0 beta 3?

Hello Seine
I would humbly like to know how u set up ur Wingate to use two ADSL connections simultaneously and enhance your bandwidth. I did the same stuff with winroute but had to set up 2 servers for the two connectuons seperately...toying with Wingate for sometime now as I find it much more intresting but no idea how to set it up .as I also have the same thinking that 2 cheap ADSL connections will sum up to a costly single ADSL connection in peformance as I came to find out using 2 servers. I sincerely do hope for a reply
With Respect
Dan
