Got Cable Modem, how to connect 3 PCs with Wingate? Lost :(

Postby markb2004 » Jul 17 04 1:39 am

Hi,

I recently got high-speed cable and I plugged that cable modem into my first port of my 4-port router. I then plugged my server PC into plug 2, and my other PC's into 3 and 4. Then suddenly only 1 PC was talking to the Internet and the others stopped.

I then removed Wingate from all the machines, and I then got 2 PCs talking to the Internet, but not the other 2 machines.

My 4-port router is a cheap thing, and I believe my cable modem is assigning IPs to my PCs.

QUESTION: How do I go about running Wingate using 1 PC as a server, and the other 3 PCs as well so they all can access the Internet?

I did read some docs here, but they only confused me more.

Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Mark Bishop

How are the IP addresses assigned - by the Modem or the router?

What is the Range?
