Direcway and FTP

Postby alejandroc » Jul 22 04 5:43 am

Hello,

We have Wingate 5.2.2 (build 892) running on XP Pro and connecting via Direcway 2 way satellite. I thought everything was working fine, until today when one of the clients tried to download a large file from an FTP site. The clients connect via NAT (no proxy configuration on the clients and no WGIC).
Now, for the connection to work properly, we had to setup the WWWProxy Service to connect via Cascaded Proxy (127.0.0.1:83, which is where the Direcway acceleration/compression software runs).
We tried to download the same file on the wingate server and it downloaded without trouble. What could be the problem?

Thanx

Alejandro

Do you know if this proxy supports the CONNECT method?

If so, you can change the setting for connections to "HTTP proxy with SSL tunnelling support"

You should even be able to select that option for the FTP proxy as well.

Thanks for the reply.

I have no idea if the proxy software Direcway comes with accepts the CONNECT method. I'll give it a try and post as soon as I get a conlusive answer. In the meantime, is there any other possible solution?

Well, I changed the setting on the www proxy service and the clients started getting the "500 internal error", so I assume Direcway's proxy software doesn't accept the CONNECT method.
Any other thoughts?
