connection to http server from a java application

Postby senin » Jul 28 04 3:53 am

Hi

I want to test a connection to a server application via proxy from a java application. For that, I have installed wingate in one of the computers in the network. I use the recommonded optios and set WWW Server service port as 10051. see the Ips of there computers in the network

----------------------
xx.1.0.133- Wingate server installed, WWW Server port is 10051
xx.1.0.148- Server application is running
xx.1.0.131- client connecting to server via proxy
-------------------

I have changed the browser(mozilla) settings in 'xx.1.0.131' to connect via proxy(HTTP-PROXY : xx.1.0.133 and port:10051) . But the browser could not access the url and complains about proxy settings. Using direct connection I can access the url . Ping to the proxy server is ok after when I diseabled firewall.

Should I set any DNS/WINS settings for this? I only want to test the connection to xx.1.0.148 via proxy. Is there any simple settings to do this? Please advice? thanks.

Hi senin.
If you have used DHCP server on wingate server (ON by default) then there is no need to setting the DNS, and visceversa. You can check your LAN connection (on the client) if in doubt.
Check your gatekeeper log (historial) to see what is happening, and check user permisions too.
Regards.
