ADSL PPPoE Problem

Hi, just recently we have upgraded our broadband service from cable modem to ADSL with a PPPoE Adapter Driver with a 2 MBPS Download/512 upload speed, the Telecom company has provided us with an installer for their PPPoE Adapter, after we have successfully installed the software and tested the internet connection on the server using an evaluation of Wingate 5.2.3 installed June 5, 2004, all internet users now are unable to surf the internet, but if we try to use the builtin internet sharing of the Windows 2000 Sever it works, is this a compatibility issue with the Wingate 5.2.3.

The software that came with the ADSL Modem is a Siemens/Efficient Networks Enternet 300.

This [although unlikely] could be a conflict between the NAT driver [qbikhk.*] and the PPPoE!

Two suggestions,

Disable NAT [all precautions about the lack of firewall apply] and see if the clients can surf using proxy configuration.

Try Beta 6rc2 for compatibility with your hardware.

The server we used was built from scratch because of server problems, we tried to reinstall the Wingate 5.2.3 without the NAT driver, apparently this setup is ok because everything now works. We used the WGIC to connect to the wingate server and everything works this is now the dilemma, NAT provides firewall protection without it we are exposed to numerous intrusion possibilities, is there a software that we can use to install to provide firewall protection without interfering with the current connection?

Setup details below:
Wingate 5.2.3 running on a Windows 98 SE BOX with PIII 500 MHZ
PPPoE Adapter with builtin firewall software
LAN PCs connect via WGIC and proxy.

Side thought: WinGate 6.0 has been released. If you have an existing 5.2.3 key, you can migrate that key to 6.0 and keep existing functionality.
