back up server configuration

i currently have a 2 adsl connection on 2 computers with different isp.both has 2 lancards,one for the adsl connection,the other for the lan network.how do i configure the client pc to connect to the other server(let's say server2) whenever server1 is down.i tried adding both ips of the two shared lan connection on the gateway of the client pcs but it still doesn't work.im using wingate on server1 running windows xp sp1.

Hi

If you have WinGate 6.0 on Server 2 with secondary internet connection, and another server server 1 with primary internet connection, then you can configure WinGate to monitor server 1 (enable gateway monitoring), and set WinGate machine's default gateway to server 1.

Then if WinGate is the default gateway for other machines on your LAN, if WinGate detects that server 1 is dead, it will dial a backup connection. Then when Server 1 comes back to life, WinGate will see that, and start using that again.

You can even get WinGate to use the backup for some services all the time. Check out the gateways tab in a service configuration in GateKeeper.

how bout if i use tha two dsl connection in one pc?using 3 nic.one for the adsl connection1, one for the adsl connection2 and one for the internal network.can i do that?that if adsl connection1 is down,it will automatically switch its internet connection to adsl connection2.is it possible?both adsl connections have fixed ips.

Yes, there should be no problem with this setup.
