Cannot get clients to connect to internet.

I have a router and two computers.

The host has wireless access to a router and a onboard NIC for a wingate server.

When I set the onboard NIC for the ip 192.168.0.1 and the subnet 255.255.255.0 the internet DOESNT work on the host or the client but the client computer can access shared files from the host. and visa versa.

If i set the hosts subnet to 255.255.254.0 I can get on the internet with the host but not the client even if i set the subnet to 255.255.254.0 or 255.255.255.0 on the client

If the subnet is set to 255.255.255.0 on the host and the onboard NIC is disabled the internet works.

lol i know its alot but IF ANYONE CAN HELP PLEASE HELP ME IVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM FOR 3 HOURS STRAIGHT

Make sure that the adapters' usages are set up correctly - internal/external.

adapters? all the cords and everything is set

also do i have to share the wireless with windows internet cnnection sharing for it to work in wingate or should i unshare it and some how share it with wingate?

If your internet access is done through the wireless connection, then you WiFi thing should be set to External and the onboard NIC to internal.[/img]

where do i go to find out if it is set like that? i dont see it in network connections or any of the settings

If you use v6, then these settings are available from the Networks tab (right-click on the interface to bring up Properties window). For v5 you go to Options/Advanced menu and change properties there.

No, I don't, sorry.
Now simply right-click on the interface you want to change settings on and from the menu choose "Properties". Now set the interface' role (internal/external/DMZ) and click OK. Do the same for the second interface.

Make sure that the IP address on your internal adapter is available from the clients (routing). I.e. set the internal adapter IP address to 192.168.0.1 as you did before and have all the client machines setup with 192.168.0.x addresses.

How is your Wingate machine connected to the internet?

with it set like this once again if i enable the onboard nic I can access each others shared files and a internet gateway setting comes up on the client showing the hosts computer and that it is connected. but both have no internet access

You have your cable modem at 65.x.x.x and it is connected to your Wingate machine through what?

Right. Then your onboard NIC should be in the same range (say, 192.168.0.109) and be marked as external. Your WiFi clients should be in different subnet, say, 192.168.1.x - including your wireless thing - and the wireless adapter should be marked as internal.
