HI

do you have the following option enabled?

GateKeeper->Extended Networking->Routing->Enable support for multiple default routes.

If so, and if you also have more than one gateway on your network, try disabling this option.

Hi,

Did you not receive my email from the support ticket? When I connected to your machine, there was only one NIC in it with a default gateway. For WinGate’s NAT you need two NIC's; does your client only have one NIC too?

My apologies if I have missed something in your setup, my Italian is not very good.

X Adrien : I have already disabled that option but without success.

X Jamesc : No I haven't received anything, try .

I use only One NIC on the SRV and on the client.
In my customer's configuration with 6.0.4 nat works fine even if it's only with one NIC, do you think that is that the problem? so why with the old version it worked?

Thanks a lot.

Cico

EDIT by Jamesc: Just cut your email address out, yes that is the correct one. I have resent via support ticket

Hi Mastercico,

My understanding with NAT, is that you need an Internal NIC, and an External NIC; it was not intentionally designed to work with one NIC. I have only seen one other case (since March) where someone has been using NAT with one NIC.

I will follow this up tomorrow.

Hi Cico

WinGate 6.0.4 would perform transparent proxying if there was only one NIC.

WinGate 6.1.0 does not.

From the client machine's perspective, WinGate 6.0.4 would perform NAT for specific ports only (ports intercepted by a WinGate proxy). On other ports, NAT would not work.

No version of WinGate to my knowledge would perform general NAT (other than through transparent proxying) with only one NIC.

However, it is evident that WinGate 6.1.0 broke the ability of WinGate to perform transparent proxying with only one NIC. I have found the changes to the code which caused this - it was related to a fix for a problem where WinGate would intercept routed traffic and also VPN traffic.

Since WinGate was never designed to perform NAT with only one NIC, I didn't consider it to be a problem at the time, but since obviously some customers rely on this behaviour, we have decided to put it back in. Furthermore, since it doesn't make sense to perform NAT only on intercepted ports, I have decided to allow general NAT with only one NIC. Can't think of any compelling reasons to disallow this, and it is in line with the planned direction of changes to the driver anyway.

So, I have made some changes to the driver. If you would like to test it, and verify it does what you want, let us know and I can send you one. Will need to know the OS of your WinGate server.

regards

Adrien

I Use it on Win2k3 srv std edition, and on my pc which run WinXP pro, but i'll try on my own pc before on the customer's one.

Please send it by mail at [edited out] or put it on some webspace is the same for me.

Thanks again for your support it will be a great funcion to nat with only one nic.
