Wingate API...

Postby adriaan » Nov 16 05 1:25 am

Hi,

I would like to know if Wingate have an API or Plug-in spec, so that one can write one's own plug-ins or add-on's to Wingate?

Some of the features I would like to implement is...
1. Block downloads on file size (where possible)
2. Return custom error messages, based on a policy deny.
3. See the status (file size, percentage downloaded) of a file being downloaded. This used to be implemented in a old plug-in.
4. Apply policies, etc via a SQL database
5. Manage user accounts via SQL database

Hi,

Can Wingate please comment on this??????

Some of these features have really being missing for a VERY long time from Wingate. If Wingate makes an SDK available then maybe some users can implement some enterprise/basic features in the product, because Wingate is really lacking enterprise features.

Hi Adriaan

sorry have been away for a couple of days. We have an API which will allow you to do some of these things. If you have specific requirements for a particular set of plugins you wish to create, we may be best to take this off line and discuss, as we may need to modify the API to cope with your requirements.

Everybody needs a break now and then :-)

Can you please provide me with and email or an alternative method of communication, so that we can discuss this.

WinGate API

Postby KillerByte » Dec 15 05 4:51 am

Hi,

I'm also interested in developing plug-ins for WinGate. Please could you provide me with details of your API?

Thanks.

WinGate API

Postby KillerByte » Dec 16 05 9:46 pm

Hello again,

Specifically, what I would like to do is build a web application to control WinGate, similar to the existing GateKeeper client. I only want to develop a small subset of its functionality at the moment, such as:

User Creation/Deletion
Policy Management (for restricting time and location of a user)

Is this possible using the WinGate API? If so, could you please email me details of how to obtain it and what it can be used for.

Many thanks!

Hi

The current API only supports filtering of data streams.

We do have plans for a COM interface to the user database to allow for a variety of options, such as PHP admin utils and other options to manage the user database.
