Wingate cache problems

Postby YIFY » Oct 19 10 12:43 pm

I am very new to wingate proxy but I do like the idea.

So I noticed that images and the likes that loaded do cache properly and load instantly on any other computer on the network.

But I also noticed that sites like facebook suddenly stop refreshing (comments and the likes) and I assume that this is also due to the cache.

Now what I want is for the images and other media on facebook site to STILL be caching but for the rest (comments and updates) not be...
Can this be done?

Thanks in advance

It's a good question. Is there any possibility to analyze sites before insertion to cache database?
We have about 10 company sites, which are updated every 2-10 minutes. Is there any possibility not to cache them?
I've tried to use mysql trigger after insert, but it would be nice to define some filtering rules.

In policy you can control whether a result will be cached or not, or whether it can be looked up from cache on a per-request basis.

for instance in a policy attached to WWW Proxy Server: ProxyRequest you can either use the cache control policy item (if you have a pro or enterprise license) or use an expression evaluator to evaluate

Session.Cache.Lookup = false

which will prevent it from being sourced from cache, and

Session.Cache.Add = false

which will prevent the server response from being cached.

you can then specify the circumstances where a request / response will be cached.

Thank. I've defined subcategory of allowed sites and disabled caching through policy rules (on proxy request). It works.
