WinGate7 doesn't seem to work

Postby bulletproof » May 08 13 1:52 am

Hello.

I've installed WinGate 7 on Windows 7 and activated it using free concurrent user license.

The first functionality I've wanted to test was Web Access Control using this video tutorial, but on my PC it won't block any sites, nor even count the hits for them.

I'm using default settings for database connection. However I needed to change the port for WWW Proxy Server from 80 to 70, because 80 is already taken by XAMPP.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to configure something else?

Hi

when your clients surf the internet, how does this show up in WinGate Management activity panel?

If you see something like NAT: TCP connection to .... then that means they aren't going through the web proxy.

Unless the client computers are configured to use a proxy, or the www proxy intercepts port 80 (intercepting is independent of which port it runs on as a service), then the traffic won't be going through the proxy, and so Web Access Control rules won't be in play.
