Wingate Logfile

Postby trebor » Mar 21 04 3:34 am

Hi

I am running 5.2.3 and use Java authenticate Login for employees WWW proxy server. My logfile default port 8010, however I cannot seem to be able to read the logfiles.

The bindings are correct on the port. I use IE to open 192.168.3.99:8010 but the page cannot be found, I have also tried using IE on the server firewall PC itself to open 127.0.0.1:8010 with the same result.

Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

Hi Trebor

Have you listed the couple of things to check

Have you listed the (Internal IP of WinGate server) 192.168.3.99:8010
in the "Dont use Proxies for" section of your web browser as described in the WinGate helpfile section on the logfile server.

Often this is overlooked when the address being used to access the logfile server is local.

I know you probably checked this already but just check on the non proxy request tab of the logfile server that the "Serve Requests" radio button checked etc. I reproduced your scenario in our lab and found it works fine.

Hope this Helps

Hi Erwin

Thanks for that, the settings looked ok but I unset then reset them and it now works which is great (I must have been doing something wrong).

My only snag now is that I can view the index page showing "service logs", "User Audits" and "Information". I can open everything EXCEPT user audits - I get the message "You are not authorized to view this page".

I have allowed everyone to use the service, and I have checked that there is no ban list running on the service or in puresight.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Rob

Hi Rob

You will get this message if none of the users have been setup to be audited. Is this the case?

With no file information in this folder (as no one has been audited) WinGate will return this page. Try selecting some audit options (found on the User config/Audit tab) for a user and then after they have had some activity recheck the folders access. You should find it available now.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Erwin

In my case i have created one user and the auditing is on, but again i am getting that you are not authorized to view that page. when i see the options of audit, information and service logs, if i click on any of these options i found the folder name Audit 0, 0 means there is nothing it means the auditing is not working.

Could you please help me out
