XP crash

Postby lsces » Dec 04 03 5:26 am

I'm having a problem with a new setup with XP as a server.
The machine is crashing a couple of times a day with the blue screen,
and DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The STOP message is in qbikhkxp.sys ( Address F766B481 )

Any ideas what I need to look at?

5.1.0
( I think - can't get access at the moment, the machine seems to be down :) )

G'day all from sunny Oz!

Have seen this stop error frequently on one Win2k server using V5.07 at the time.

The resolution was to change the mainboard to suit the particular combination of two Nics. IRQL Stop Errors are because a kernel memory process tried to access memory at an IRQ at too high a level.

Hardware, device drivers or the bios can be involved.

Change the position of the NIC to another bus slot.
If embedded NIC, disable it and use a card.
Update bios from manufacturer.
Check the hardware with the MS HCL.
Change mainboard.

...are a few ideas that come to mind.

More info on the stop error could be useful >

Stop 0x0000000xA with the last 'x' in the range 1~4 depending on the bugcheck analysis [from memory so could be wrong].

STOP: 0x000000D1 ( ... Rest changes each time

It's a brand new integrated motherboard, but I will have a go at replacing the network connection. I have got a spare low profile network card.

Microsoft responce is re-install XP, but I'm not convinced THAT will make the slightest difference. I'm going to swop the two machines and see if there is any difference with a clean install of WIngate on the second machine.
