Connection with Wingate Server terminated - Message Help Pls

Postby jane » Mar 09 07 11:32 pm

I tried searching the forum for similar issues came up empty.

Wingate seems to be running fine, but when i try login it gives me this message i cannot access anything so i cannot add new users or modify or maintain any of the criteria within wingate now.

Any information or help would be welcome. Running on Win2000 server wingate 6.1.0

thank you

No you won't be able to access the remote control service (RCS) in WG because you can't log into GateKeeper - which is the GUI for WG's engine.

If you know the Administrator password for GateKeeper/WG then most likely there is a policy (or lack thereof) in the RCS that won't allow anyone, including the Administrator, to log in. This usually happens unintentionally when policies are being adjusted - in your case??? In this situation you can apply a Windows registry fix. You can download it here, unzip it and double click to install the fix. This fix adjusts the RCS policy to allow Administrator log ins. Before applying the registry fix, stop the WG engine, then apply the registry fix, then restart the WG engine. Wouldn't hurt to backup the registry or create a system restore point before applying the fix either.

Let us know if this helps.

jane, try this. Stop the Wingate engine. Go into the registry using regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate\Services\Remote Control Service and export the key and save it. Then delete only this key (Remote Control Service) . Then restart the WG engine. WG will create a default RCS. Then try logging in to GateKeeper. Any change now?

Sometimes that is the best way.

There is a WG6 mail setup document pdf located here. I think scenario 2 (page 25) is what you would look at. See if that helps.

It is a 3Mb file - I sent it to that address. I have no problem with the document opening from that link. I'm using Adobe reader ver. 7.0.9 I don't know of any alternative link if email doesn't work. The resource page for Qbik site is here with link to this document (and others)
